Minutes of the

The DeKalb County Forest Preserve Commissioners met at the Legislative Center on Wednesday, July 17, 2002. President Pritchard called the meeting to order and the Secretary called the roll. Those Commissioners present were Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Tobias, Mr. Steimel, Mr. Smith, Mr. Simonson, Mr. Morreale, Mr. Metzger, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Lyle, Mrs. Leifheit, Ms. LaVigne, Mr. Hutcheson, Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Haines, Mr. Guehler, Mrs. Dubin, Mr. Dlabal, Dr. Conway, Mrs. Casella, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Allen and President Pritchard. Those Commissioners absent were Mr. Sands and Mr. Brown. Twenty-two Commissioners were present and two Commissioners were absent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion
Mr. Guehler moved to approve the Minutes of the June 19, 2002 meeting. Mr. Metzger seconded the motion.
Voice Vote
The President called for a voice vote on the approval of the Minutes. All Commissioners present voted yea. Motion carried unanimously.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Motion
Mrs. Casella moved to approve the agenda and Mr. Smith seconded the motion.
Voice Vote
The President asked for a voice vote on the approval of the agenda. Motion carried unanimously.
BUSINESS
Resolution 2002-54: Land Acquisition
Motion
Mr. Morreale moved to approve a Resolution to enter into an agreement to purchase the 300-acre Northwest of Kirkland property for $1,200,000.00. Mr. Haines seconded the motion.
Roll Call Vote
The President called for a roll call vote on the Resolution. Those Commissioners voting yea were Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Tobias, Mr. Steimel, Mr. Smith, Mr. Simonson, Mr. Morreale, Mr. Metzger, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Lyle, Mrs. Leifheit, Ms. LaVigne, Mr. Hutcheson, Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Haines, Mr. Guehler, Mrs. Dubin, Mr. Dlabal, Dr. Conway, Mrs. Casella, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Allen and President Pritchard. All Commissioners present voted yea. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Morreale thanked Terry Hannan for his many hours of work and commented that grants from Illinois Clean Energy Foundation Natural Land Institute, Illinois Department National Resources and DeKalb County Community Foundation have helped to get this project moving along.
Claims
Mr. Morreale moved to approve the current months Claims in the amount of $12,793.59 and Payroll & Emergency Claims paid from prior month in the amount of $23,504.55. Mr. Metzger seconded the motion.

The President called for a roll call vote on the Claims. Those Commissioners voting yea were Mr. Wilson, Mrs. Tobias, Mr. Steimel, Mr. Smith, Mr. Simonson, Mr. Morreale, Mr. Metzger, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Lyle, Mrs. Leifheit, Ms. LaVigne, Mr. Hutcheson, Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Haines, Mr. Guehler, Mrs. Dubin, Mr. Dlabal, Dr. Conway, Mrs. Casella, Mr. Barr, Mrs. Allen and President Pritchard. All Commissioners present voted yea. Motion carried unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS / NEW BUSINESS
Mr. Wilson introduced Mr. Wayne Davey, a newly appointed employee in the Highway Department who replaces Jan Hoadley (a recent retiree) as the Support Services Manager.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion
Mr. Smith moved to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Hutcheson seconded the motion.
Voice Vote
The President called for a voice vote on the motion to adjourn. All Commissioners present voted yea. Motion carried unanimously.
