 NEW BUSINESS – None

OLD BUSINESS – Update on Meetings

Chairman Tobias said the meeting in Kingston would be scheduled for either June or July of this year.  Their council meetings are on the first Monday of the month so we would need to arrange for another day.   Ms. LaVigne said that our committee members should still go to their council meeting just to show support.  The other problem that we have is that the Public Services Committee meets on the first Monday of every month and two of our members are on that committee, said Chairman Tobias.  Ms. Supple, County Coordinator, said that she would check with Chairman Leifheit of the Public Services Committee and ask her if their meetings in June or July could be rescheduled.   Chairman Tobias said that she would call the county board office and let them know what the time is of the city council meeting for Kingston.

OLD BUSINESS – Selection of County Government Week Essay Contest Winner

Ms. Sanderson, DeKalb County Webmaster, said that there were 102 entries and that she had read them all and narrowed them down to 10 finalists.  Those ten finalists were mailed to the committee so that they could read them prior to the meeting and then be prepared to pick a winner from the finalists entries tonight.  These ten finalists were picked because of their ideas being the best out of the group.  It was agreed that the final winning essay should be placed on the Website and published in the MidWeek and the Chronicle.  In the press release they would also like other ideas that were suggested from the other nine finalists included.  After further discussion it was agreed that Ms. Kaylie Davison was chosen as the winner of the essay contest.  She will be notified that evening from Ms. Sanderson and invited to attend the County Board Meeting on Wednesday to receive her award and her $100.00 winner’s prize.

OLD BUSINESS – Follow-up on Legislative Agenda

Chairman Tobias said that she is following through with Senator Burzynski and Representative Wirsing about the Legislative Agenda.   She said that the committee needs to think about when they want to present the legislative calendar, that is, when is the best time to present it.  Chairman Tobias said that she would check with Mr. Bockman about this.

ADJOURNMENT

Moved by Mr. Dlabal, seconded by Ms. LaVigne, and it was carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting.

Respectively submitted,
