Wireless Money – Each cell user pays 75
cents per month and this money is paid to
the State of Illinois. The State keeps one
cent for administration and then divides the
remainder of the money by giving 1/3 (just
under 25 cents) to the wireless carriers and
2/3 (just under 50 cents) to the local E-911
Boards. The distribution is based on the
number of cell phones billed in the zip
codes under the local E-911 Board’s
jurisdiction.
