The DeKalb County Forest Preserve Committee met
Tuesday, September 16, 2003at Potawatomi Woods Forest Preserve, at 6:00
p.m. Vice-Chairman Mr. Simonson called the meeting to order with Mrs.
Fauci, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Lyle, and Mr. Rosemier. Mr. Hannan was also
present.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Moved by Mr. Lyle, seconded by Mr. Johnson, and it was
carried unanimously with a voice vote to approve the minutes for August.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Moved by Mrs. Fauci, seconded by Mr. Rosemier, and it
was carried unanimously by voice vote to approve the agenda.
PUBLIC COMMENT
There was no comment from the public at this time.
TOUR OF POTAWATOMI WOODS
The Forest Preserve Committee took a driving tour of
Potawatomi Woods Forest Preserve. Mr. Hannan provided photos of the
preserve prior to and during "clean-up"with the volunteers and the forest
preserve development so far. Mr. Hannan gave an historical overview and
acreage description of both the new State Park and Potawatomi Woods. Mr.
Hannan also introduced a local Kirkland volunteer, Mr. Doug Johnson, who
will assist with maintenance and make patrols.
TRUCK BID OPENING
Bids for a new truck were opened and were as follows:
Brad Manning $21,043.27 (less any applicable license ,title, and fees),
Sycamore/Ford Auto Center $21,015 (including tax and title), Mike Mooney
$23,963 for 8' bed (including tax and title) or $23,291 for 6.5 bed
(including tax and title). An updated State of Illinois bid price will be
checked to determine lowest bid from all vendors. Mr. Rosemier moved to
accept the bids and Mrs. Fauci seconded , the motion carried unanimously.
The lowest bidder will be announced at the October meeting.
BUDGET ‘04 AMENDMENT
Item #9 in Budget Summary recommendations require a
$2,000 payment for each employee which will amount to $8,000 over a 2 year
period. This $4,000 for the first year will be attained by subtracting
$4,000 from account #7802 (construction/equipment) and adding $4,000 to
account #9943 medical insurance. An evaluation will be made prior to the
second year’s budget to determine how the second year’s $4,000 payment
will be attained. Mr. Lyle made motion to approve this modification to the
Forest Preserve’s budget, Mr. Johnson seconded, and the motion carried
unanimously. Note was made of item #30 in Budget Summary in which an
extension for payoff of loan would be made until the end of FY 2004. The
Forest Preserve Committee supported the extension.
