The Finance Committee of the DeKalb County Board, met on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 7:00p.m. in the DeKalb County Legislative Center’s Liberty Room.  Chairman Whelan called the meeting to order.  Those present were Jeff Metzger, Sr., Michael Haines, Ruth Anne Tobias, Sue Leifheit and Jerry Augsburger.   Mr. Sands was absent.  Others present were Ray Bockman, Gary Hanson and Anita Turner.

YEAR-END BUDGET TRANSFERS FOR FY2006

          Mr. Hanson highlighted items #24 and #25 (attached to these minutes) as they will be a problem next year too.  He also mentioned that item #27 occurred because of a large liability claim and high work compensation claims.  At this point, he said, it is not a trend, but will need to be watched in the future years.

          The committee also discussed what is the County going to do now that the Jail Referendum has failed?  It was noted that developing a new long-term plan should be a top priority for 2007, but there was plenty of time to develop a well thought-out plan. 

          Moved by Ms. Leifheit, seconded by Mr. Augsburger, and it was carried unanimously to approve the year-end budget transfers as presented on the attached sheet and forward this recommendation to the full board for approval.

          Moved by Ms. Leifheit, seconded by Ms. Tobias, and was carried unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:20p.m.
