The meeting started at 7:00 with President Rich Joslin presiding.  We had 11 members attending and Dan Gallagher was introduced, representing American Legion Post 1010.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Steve Walz and Mike Boorsma made the motion to accept the minutes as read and this was seconded by Rich Joslin.  The minutes were approved.

The finance report was read by Treasurer John Davis, and we have $1992.57 in the fund.  Mike Boorsma seconded the treasurer’s report and it was approved.

The supervisors report was presented by Administrative Assistant Linda Drake.  The commission received 202 phone calls, 67 messages, and 556 e-mails.  We transported 9 veterans to Madison and 1 veteran to Hines.  There was discussion on whether to help parents of veterans if they need help because of extenuating circumstances such as a veteran in the hospital.  It was decided to handle each case separately.

Steve Walz made the motion to accept the changes to the by-laws as printed and this was seconded by Mike Boorsma.  The motion passed.

The handbook guide is still being amended.

The transportation members are looking at different vans, Toyota Sienna is the lead vehicle because of cost and reliability.  The insurance on the vehicle was discussed and Ron Mateikitis is checking on this.  Signs for the van were also discussed.

Rich Joslin made a motion that Jackets and Blazers for Herb Holderman and Linda Drake when they are representing us would be appropriate.  It was also decided that if a director would want a jacket then he could have one.  Ron Hansen seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

At 7:46, Mike Boorsma made the motion to adjourn and this was seconded by Ron Hansen.  The motion passed.

Respectfully Submitted,

Steve Walz, Secretary
