Minutes

January 5, 2010

Present:  Mike Haines, Sally DeFauw, Riley Oncken, Marlene Allen, Paul Stoddard (chair).  Also Elena Grimm (Chronicle).

The committee renewed its discussion of compensation levels for board members who attend committee meetings by electronic means (either audio or visual).  As compensation levels have already been set for this year, and that since the "remote" attendance provision was, for now, temporary, it was decided not to adopt any changes to compensation at this time. 

The committee then took up the issue of absences from full board and committee meetings.  It was decided that the only reasonable remedy regarding members who consistently miss full board meetings would be left to the voters of that member's district.  For committee meetings, it was recommended that members missing more than 3 meetings of a committee in a calendar year be removed from that committee by the board chairman, with the advice of the Executive committee, and the consent of the full board. 

These changes (as well as those from the December meeting) are contained in the attached ordinance.

Moved by Ms. Allen, seconded by Mr. Oncken, and it was carried unanimously to forward this to the full board for approval.

No future meeting date has been set.
