DEKALB COUNTY VETERANS ASSISTANCE COMMISSION DECEMBER 12, 2011
The meeting started at 7:00 with Vice-President Jim Cox calling the meeting to order. There were 7 members in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and Don Jones made the motion to approve the minutes as read. Bob McDonald seconded the motion and the minutes were approved. There was no corporation financial report.
Herb Holderman gave the superintendents report. We helped 34 veterans with food, 28 with shelter and 25 with utilities. We also transported 22 veterans to various VA Hospitals. The drivers drove a total of 2795 miles for the month. We also helped three vets receive monthly benefits of $3574.00 with retro amounts totaling $13,422.00. The commission bought two GPS units for the vehicles. The January meeting will be held in Genoa.
Linda Drake told us about the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries putting together food baskets for needy veterans.
The bills for the commission totaled $33,241.66. Don Jones made the motion to pay the bills and this was seconded by Steve Walz. The bills will be paid.
Don Jones made the motion to adjourn at 7:30 and this was seconded by Bob McDonald. We were adjourned.
