DEKALB COUNTY VETERANS ASSISTANCE COMMISSION

JANUARY 9, 2012

 

     The meeting started at 7:00 with President Rich Joslin calling the meeting to order.  There were 12 members in attendance.  Steve Kreitzer was introduced as the new work study.  The minutes of the previous meeting were read and Don Jones made the motion to accept the minutes as read and this was seconded by Bob McDonald.  The minutes were approved as read.  John Davis gave the corporation treasurers report and there is $1430.12 in the account.  Don Jones seconded the report and the report was approved. 

 

     Herb Holderman gave the superintendents report.  Last month, we assisted 31 veterans with food, 28 with shelter and 18 with utilities.  We also transported 23 veterans to various VA hospitals.  We helped 3 veterans collect $749.00 in pay and retro pay totaling $13,039.00.  We also paid $1986.00 for insurance for the two vehicles and paid the DeKalb and Genoa Chambers of Commerce dues totaling $355.00.  Steven Scoughton is the new education training officer for the IACVAC.  We brought in a total of $121,670.00 in monthly benefits and $710,305.00 in retroactive benefits to 63 DeKalb County veterans last year.  We gave out $146,050.00 to DeKalb County veterans in general assistance last year.  Don Jones made the motion to pay the bills totaling $33,966.48, and this was seconded by Joe Newby.  The bills will be paid. 

 

     Don made the motion to spend $2800 for new desk top computers with the necessary accessories and this was seconded by Bob.  The motion was approved.

February 13 in DeKalb

March 12 in DeKalb

April 9 in Sandwich

May 14 in DeKalb

June 11 in Waterman

July 9 in DeKalb

August 13 in Genoa

September 10 in DeKalb

October 8 in Sandwich

November 12 in DeKalb

December 11 in DeKalb

The commission will be checking out on whatever happened to the doll house.

Steve Walz made the motion to adjourn at 7:30 and this was seconded by Don Jones.
