DEKALB COUNTY VETERANS ASSISTANCE COMMISSION The meeting started at 7:00 with President Rich Joslin presiding. There were 11 members in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and Don Jones made the motion to accept the minutes as read. Jon Lehuta seconded the motion and the minute's were approved. John Davis gave the corporation financial report and there is $1470.12 in the account. Don Jones seconded the report and the report was approved. Herb Holderman gave the superintendents report. The commission helped 33 veterans with food, 27 with shelter and 25 with utilities. We took 17 veterans to various VA Hospitals. We also helped 5 veterans get $5794.00 in monthly pay, and retro pay totaling $50,238.00. The bills for the commission totaled $33,366.56. Don Jones made the motion to pay the bills and this was seconded by Joe Newby. The bills will be paid. There was some discussion on the changes that were made on the open meetings act. Next month's meeting will be held in Sandwich. The Kingston American Legion will be serving corned beef and cabbage on March 17. The Genoa Vet's Club smelt fry will be on March 24 and the DeKalb County Viet Now steak fry will be April 20 at the Sycamore Veterans Club. Don Jones made the motion to adjourn at 7:20.
