The DeKalb County Regional Planning Commission (RPC) met on July 26, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport, Conference Room, in DeKalb, Illinois. In attendance were Commission members Rich Gentile, Brian Gregory, Derek Hiland, Cheryl Aldis, Liz Peerboom, Anita Sorensen, Dawn Grivetti, and Becky Morphey. Also in attendance were Justyn Miller and staff members Paul Miller and Rebecca Von Drasek.

1. Roll Call -- Commission members Martha May, Tracy Jones, Les Bellah, John Fischer, Bill Beverley, Don Pardridge, and Linda Swenson were absent.

2. Approval of Agenda -- Ms. Aldis moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Mr. Gregory, and the motion carried unanimously.

3. Approval of Minutes -- Mr. Gentile moved to approve the minutes from the May 30, 2013 meeting, seconded by Ms. Sorenson , and the motion carried unanimously.

4. Tour of Airport

Mr. Hiland introduced Tom Cleveland, the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport's manager.

Mr. Cleveland took the Commission on a tour of the airport and then did a short PowerPoint presentation which detailed the history, facilities, services, uses, and positive economic impact of the airport on DeKalb County. Mr. Cleveland also noted the educational opportunities available at the airport through the Kishwaukee Education Consortium, as well as other community events hosted by the airport.

The Commissioners thanked Mr. Cleveland for his presentation.

5. DeKalb Comprehensive Plan Review

The Commission tabled this topic to a future meeting due to time constraints.

6. Municipal Development Projects / Issues

Mr. Hiland asked members for any announcements or reports.

Ms. Aldis advertised the upcoming Cortland Summerfest, August 8th and 9th.

Ms. Peerboom noted the Maple Park festival to be held over Labor Day weekend.

Mr. Gregory highlighted the Car Show planned for July 26th through 28th in Sycamore.

Ms. Grivetti observed that the Municipal Development Report could reflect Hinckley projects as dormant. Staff encouraged her to provide that information and offered to add it to the report.

Ms. Grivetti offered that Hinckley had also begun work on upgrades to their wastewater treatment plant.

7. Next Meeting Date -- The Commission agreed that the next RPC meeting would be in October 3, 2013. HOWEVER, after reviewing staff schedules the meeting was scheduled for October 10, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Conference Room East of the DeKalb County Administration Building.

8. Adjournment -- Ms. Aldis moved to adjourn, seconded by Ms. Grivetti, and the motion carried unanimously.
