The meeting started at 7:05 with President Rich Joslin calling the meeting to order. There were 12 members in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and Don Jones seconded the minutes. The minutes were approved as read. John Davis gave the corporation finance officers report and there is $1546.00 in the account. Don Jones seconded the report and the report was approved. The commission will be sending out dues notices to the various veterans’ organizations.

 

Tammy Anderson gave the Superintendents report. Last month we helped 35 veterans with food, 26 with shelter, and 20 with utilities. We also helped 5 veterans to get monthly benefits totaling $6970.00 and retro pay totaling $73,872.00. Members also transported 28 veterans to various VA Hospitals. The commission spent $39,437.21 for the month. Bob Bend made the motion to pay the bills and this was seconded by Don. The bills will be paid. Tammy also gave the yearend report and for the year we helped 409 veterans with food, 302 with shelter and 240 with utilities. We helped 41 veterans get monthly benefits totaling $68,221.00 and retro pay totaling $741,486.00. The commission also took 493 veterans to various VA Hospitals.

 

Frank Beierlotzer gave the public relations report. The 40 and 8 along with the Masonic Lodge will be having a blood drive on January 17th between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. at the Masonic Lodge on South 4th Street. Frank is also planning for DCVAC to have its own blood drive, one in February and one in April. He will be taking care of this. All members were urged to participate in the various Memorial Day programs and the 6th annual Veterans Weekend will be coming up but there isn’t a date set as of yet.

 

Saturday January 19, we will be starting to work on the doll houses at Holdermans house starting at 10.00 in the morning. January 26, Viet Now will be having a steak fry at the Sycamore veterans club from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M., and there will be a Texas Hold’em fund raiser at the Genoa veterans’ home on January 26th from 4P.M. to 1 A.M. Don Jones made the motion to adjourn at 7:35.

 

Herb Holderman has to be re-hired retroactive to January 1 2013, and will get paid $25 an hour, and will work approximately 3days a week through June.

 

Tammy Anderson needs to be paid for past PHO’s that she has not used.
